We live in a house that is divided into 3 apartments. We have 2 inviting and kind couples who share the house with us and a very fun little girl, Jocie. As a house, we have a commitment of sorts that we've made to one another: to seek to grow and live well in our community with one another, with our local community and with our world... and to follow Jesus. It isn't always easy and it definitely gets a little messy sometimes, but we're realizing that it is worth the risk of letting others close.
Plus it is a lot of fun. Once a week we share a meal together and go over any house business. Last week's house business inlcluded deciding to get rid of our house phone since we all have cell phones and cutting out cable. This week, we didn't really have any house business, but Lance shared his story, which we're going to continue to do. Last night, we hosted the house dinner and Lance made 2 pies for dessert. Our housemates think making a pie is something only really fabulous cooks do, so they gushed over its beauty before even tasting it. They even went as far as to take pictures of the pie to remember it by. Here is Sam showing Jocie Lance's pie... what you don't see is that next she put her whole face on top of the pie. We couldn't really see what she was doing, but we think she might have snuck a lick.
