my little gimpy boy... -

Will has been forced to return to crawling and scooting--and it is kind of cute!

We suspect he twisted his leg while climbing out of his bed on Tuesday, although there were no eye witnesses. Just a witness to the serious, "I'm HURT cry" and to his highly needy self for the rest of that day.

When he wouldn't put weight on his foot, but had no bruises, bumps or swelling, we figured he probably twisted his ankle and would be okay in a day or so. BUT, alas, he didn't return to himself the next day and continued to not want to put any weight on it. So we carried him all day on Wednesday and Thursday morning started out the same... so we decided it was time to call up the  experts. First a call to my personal medical advice giver, Doctor Aunt Linda, and then to google who helped us find a pediatrician and children's clinic.

We got an appointment pretty quick and the Will-man got his first x-ray. He was so cooperative and sweet--I kind of think he is benefiting from the never ending attention, the breaking of the normal "Wally" rules (meaning he carried it around everywhere for 3 days), and all the extra holding.

It just took a couple seconds of staring at the x-ray to see the lightning bolt fracture down his tibia. OUCH!

Remarkably, it heals on its own--and pretty quick. No cast, no splint needed. The doctor said he should start putting weight on it in the next few days. Having him crawl around makes me feel like we have a huge baby again--that can talk to us and doesn't require diapers (wouldn't that be awesome).

As cute as he is, I'll be really glad when he is walking again on his own.
